Planetarium Software

Stellarium Planetarium Software

Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope.

KStars Planetarium Software

KStars is free, open source, cross-platform Astronomy Software. It provides an accurate graphical simulation of the night sky, from any location on Earth, at any date and time. The display includes up to 100 million stars, 13,000 deep-sky objects, all 8 planets, the Sun and Moon, and thousands of comets, asteroids, supernovae, and satellites.

Celestia

Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. Celestia also comes with a large catalogue of stars, galaxies, planets, moons, asteroids, comets and spacecraft. If that's not enough, you can download dozens of easy to install add-ons with more objects.

C2A Planetarium Softward

C2A (Computer Aided Astronomy) is a Planetarium software that allows you to build detailed views of stellar fields. It is only available for the Microsoft Windows Operating System (all versions). An important objective of this software is to take into account the main catalogues available to professional and amateur astronomers in order to prepare observations on small fields as well as astrometry and photometry works

Aladin Star Chart

Aladin is an interactive sky atlas allowing the user to visualize digitized astronomical images or full surveys, superimpose entries from astronomical catalogues or databases, and interactively access related data and information from the Simbad database, the VizieR service and other archives for all known astronomical objects in the field.

Imaging Software

Deep Sky Stacker

DeepSkyStacker is a freeware for astrophotographers that simplifies all the pre-processing steps of deep sky pictures - Registering - Stacking - Simple post-stacking processes to quickly view the final result. - Saving the resulting image to a TIFF or FITS file (16 or 32 bit)

Night Time Imaging 'n' Astronomy

This project is fully free and open source and offers a broad variety of capabilities. The toolset spans from choosing, framing, focusing, centering and imaging one or multiple targets and much more.

Sequence Generator Pro

Our goal is to provide a best-in-class image capture suite for astrophotography. The software is capable of executing complex sequences of capture events which will allow you to spend more time looking up!

Sequator

Sequator is a free software which can track stars on multiple images, align stars and stack them. Sequator can control the exposure properly by auto-brightness or HDR-mode output, in 16-bit TIFF for further post processing.

APT - Astro Photography Tool

APT is like the Swiss army knife for your astro imaging sessions. No matter what you are imaging with, APT has the right tool for planning, collimating, aligning, focusing, framing, controlling/tethering, imaging, synchronizing, scheduling, meridian flipping, analyzing and monitoring.

ASTAP Astrometric STAcking Programme

ASTAP is a free stacking and astrometric solver (plate solver) program for deep sky images. In works with astronomical images in the FITS format, but can import RAW DSLR images or XISF, PGM, PPM, TIF, PNG and JPG images. It has a powerful FITS viewer and the native astrometric solver can be used by CCDCiel, NINA, APT or SGP imaging programs to synchronise the mount based on an image taken.

Planetary Imaging PreProcessor

PIPP is a Windows application designed for pre-processing planetary images before stacking them with image stacking software such as Registax. PIPP's main purpose is to crop each image frame and select only the best quality frames to reduce the memory and processing requirements of the stacking software.

SAOImageDS9

SAOImageDS9 is an astronomical imaging and data visualization application. DS9 supports FITS images and binary tables, multiple frame buffers, region manipulation, and many scale algorithms and colourmaps.

Registax

Registax 6 is image processing software for amateur astrophotographers designed to run under Windows. Its purpose is to produce enhanced images of deep sky images through stacking (the combination and aligning of consecutive photographs).

Star Tools

StarTools is a powerful new type of image processing engine. It tracks your signal's noise component as you process. The result is cleaner images, more detail, ease of use, and unique advanced post-processing power compared to any other software.

Fire Capture

FireCapture is one of the most popular capture software and it supports a number of different cameras. It has grown into a multifaceted tool for planetary image acquisition, automating every thing from focusing, filter changing and tracking of objects.

SharpCap

SharpCap is an easy-to-use and powerful astronomy camera capture tool and can be used with dedicated astronomy cameras, webcams and USB frame grabbers. A wide range of features makes SharpCap suitable for many types of astro-imaging including Planetary, Solar, Deep Sky and EAA (Electronically Assisted Astronomy).

Telescope Guiding Software

PHD2 - The Digital Universe

PHD2 is telescope guiding software that simplifies the process of tracking a guide star, letting you concentrate on other aspects of deep-sky imaging or spectroscopy.

AstroTortilla

AstroTortilla is a wrapper around common astrophotography tools intended to automate basic tasks such as polar alignment and goto correction.

Atlas

Virtual Moon Atlas

This program makes it possible to visualize the appearance of the Moon for any date and time, to pilot telescopes with computerized mounts on the Moon and to study in detail the lunar formations using a database of over a million entries and a strong image library of nearly 9,000 photos.
